Welcome to Selfoss
Observing tourists wandering aimlessly around Selfoss during one summer, not sure of their next steps or destinations, prompted me to think, "Selfoss needs a hub where our international visitors can receive advice and assistance to fully capitalize on their travels," shared David Luther, a co-founder of South Center.
That was the start of our adventure. We inaugurated our facility in late October 2023, and since then, we've assisted countless tourists in navigating their way through unpredictable weather, advised on the best geothermal baths to visit, directed them to the closest waterfalls, suggested where to find the finest dining experiences, and helped arrange extraordinary tours.

Meet Katrin our CEO - Hiker, Traveler & Outdoor Lover
My name is Katrin, and I am the CEO of South Center.
Traveling has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember.
I have traveled to 5 continents and dozens of countries. A few years ago, I discovered a new passion: hiking in Icelandic mountains and highlands!
Our nature is like a scene from one of Tolkien's books. I love it, and nature never fails to amaze me. When I need to fuel up, I put a backpack on my back and climb the nearest mountain. My traveling experience has taught me how important it is to be able to seek information from the locals. That is why I love to provide that service to all of our visitors in Selfoss, and I hope you will be one of them.
I am fluent in English, Norwegian, and Icelandic. I lived in Norway for 5 years, where I wandered the countryside, worked, and met wonderful people. I am looking forward to meeting people from all over the world and doing my part to make your stay in Iceland amazing!
